Hi everyone and welcome to the Black Moon Nutrition Blog! I’m Meghan and I’m the dietitian, writer and recipe developer behind the BMN Blog!
My Nutritional Journey
Growing up, my family ate decently healthy, but I didn’t get really into nutrition until I was about 21 years old. It started as a hobby for me but really turned into a passion over the next couple of years.
I became interested in functional and alternative health when I suffered from my own chronic health issues, including frequent migraines. When conventional medicine wasn’t helping me much I turned to other treatments like acupuncture, functional nutrition, yoga, meditation, and other functional therapies. When I actually started seeing results from these alternative treatments without the side effects conventional medicine gave me, I was hooked.
At this point I was already in school with a focus in dietetics, but I decided I wanted to further my education into the world of functional nutrition and medicine.
After obtaining my undergraduate degree in dietetics and taking (and passing!) the RD exam, I began my graduate degree in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine at a university in Portland, OR.
I wanted to use my knowledge in functional medicine and nutrition, as well as my own experiences with health issues to help others in similar positions.
My goal in starting this blog was to reach those who otherwise wouldn’t have access to my knowledge as a client, and to create a free space to share everything I’ve learned.
